THE CHANGE CENTER

KNOXVILLE, KNOX COUNTY – TN

The Change Center Board requested assistance from the East Tennessee Community Design Center (ETCDC) to develop a vacant warehouse space into a Multipurpose Complex.  The groups’ mission is to provide a refuge and create a beneficial diversion for Knoxville’s urban youth. The building is connected to Overcoming Believers Church (OBC) located on Harriet Tubman Street.  Damon Falconnier and Graham Fox architects with Falconnier Design served as volunteers for the project

OUTDOOR STAGE ROOF AT NORRIS MIDDLE SCHOOL

NORRIS, ANDERSON COUNTY – TN

Local boyscout Colton Zenni approached ETCDC with a plan to build a roof structure onto an existing stage as part of his Eagle Scout Project.

Through meetings with the Colton, his parents, and volunteer professionals ETCDC prepared a conceptual plan for the project. A special thanks to Robert Johnson with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. and Ken Barry with S&ME, Inc. for engineering coordination to make this project a reality.

The project will be managed by the boy scout troop with guidance from volunteer construction professionals.

VESTAL BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB

Vestal Boys and Girls Club is a local chapter of the national non-profit organization that provides after school program for young people. ETCDC provided a revised interior layout, furniture layout, and landscaping plan for their existing facility in South Knoxville, with guidance from volunteer professional Missy Johnson of Contract Furniture Alliance.

GOOD SHEPHERD CENTER

2009 Good Sketchup ModelMADISONVILLE, MONROE COUNTY – TN

Good Shepherd Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) crisis food and clothing pantry. The crisis support services are offered to any resident of Monroe County who needs assistance. Over 2,100 clients per month come to the center to request food, clothing, or financial aid. Good Shepherd Center requested the assistance from ETCDC to analyze their existing facility, staff and client flow, and develop options for renovation and expansion.

EMORY VALLEY ADULT DAY CARE CENTER

ANDERSON COUNTY, TN
The EVCC is a non-profit agency serving individuals with developmental disabilities. They enhance the lives of children, adults, and families in an environment that promotes independence, dignity, and respect.  The ETCDC was able to design a new facility to consolidate all of their functions to the same side of Emory Valley Road, which will help with the safety of staff and clients.  The design will also better accommodate their services such as: job placement, a workshop program, and an adult day care program.

RURAL RESOURCES

GREENEVILLE, GREENE  COUNTY, TN
Rural Resources is an organization whose mission is to connect farms, food, and families by facilitating learning experiences to preserve farmland, natural resources, and sustainable agriculture practices to build a vibrant local food economy.  The ETCDC was able to design a new facility for Rural Resources to replace the offices and gathering spaces that were housed in a barn that was destroyed by fire.

THERAPEUTIC HEALTH ACTIVITIES COMMUNITY CENTER

SCOTT COUNTY, TN
Scott Appalachian Industries provides rehabilitation and other services to the physical and mentally disabled men, women, children, and elderly in Scott County and surrounding counties. The organization requested help from ETCDC to prepare plans for expansion of their facility to consolidate their existing functions currently housed in separate facilities.

The Downtown Newport Association along with ETCDC developed the following objectives to revitalize the city’s downtown: create a vibrant downtown, create an accessible environment for those who occupy and visit downtown Newport, calm traffic, celebrate and commemorate the history of downtown, create an attractive and cohesive downtown experience, and bring downtown to the river.
